Four Medals at Flanders International Kickboxing Cup

On Saturday 7th of October, Nesta Baxter and Chelsea Leggatt fought at the Flanders International Kickboxing Cup in Beveren, Belgium. The two 17 year olds both fight out of the not for profit club Evolution Martial Arts in Boston, Lincolnshire. Between Nesta and Chelsea they returned to Boston with two silver and two bronze positions at the World Series Event in Belgium.

Nesta Baxter and Chelsea Leggatt both represent WAKO Kickboxing Team Great Britain and did so at this competition. The Flanders International Kickboxing Cup is part of the WAKO Kickboxing World Series which attracts many high class competitors from countries including Austria, Italy, Russia and Greece.

Nesta won the first Silver Medal for Evolution Martial Arts in her division of Junior Girls (16-18yrs) -60kg Point Fighting. Nesta made her way to the final in the Night Show after beating fighters from Germany and Croatia. In the Final Nesta came up against the current World Number One in this division Gaia Vistenin from Italy. In the Night Show Final the fight was very close but Nesta had to settle for silver as Gaia took the lead by only two points.

Chelsea Leggatt achieved a Silver in the Junior Girls (16-18yrs) +70kg Point Fighting Category. Chelsea fought in the Night Show at the Flanders International Kickboxing Cup against a Belgium Fighter Chaymae Kadi. Chelsea fought great in the final and putting in 100% effort but it was the Belgium competitor who took the gold.

Nesta Baxter then competed in her higher weight division of Junior Girls (16-18yrs) Point Fighting -65kg. Nesta fought brilliantly but came up against again the current World Number One Gaia Vistenin from Italy in the Semi Finals where it was Vistenin that took the win after a strong performance from both Nesta and the Italian.

Nesta Baxter and Chelsea Leggatt also fought in the Junior Girls Point Fighting Team Event with their fellow Team GB member Stephanie Killick from Dorking. The three girls came up against a strong Italian Team, all three fought really well representing WAKO Team GB with pride. However it was the Italian Team who took the win and went on to eventually win overall.

Well done to the two Evolution girls who are continuing to represent the local kickboxing club on the international circuit and win podium positions at such a high level event. The weekend after the Flanders International Kickboxing Cup the club will be represented at yet another International Event in the UK at the Bristol Open.
