Gold and 2 Bronzes at the Bristol Open International for Evolution Kickboxers
On the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th of October, eight Kickboxers for Evolution Martial Arts in Boston competed at the Bristol Open International Tournament held at the City Academy in Bristol. The event held host for more than 1400 entries from 13 different nations including Bulgaria, Norway, Ireland and Hungary. After a fantastic weekend of fighting, Evolution Martial Arts’ competitors finished with a very well deserved Gold and 2 Bronzes from Nesta Baxter and Kaius Rakauskas.

Saturday 14th of October was the day of Light Continuous for the Boston competitors.
Kaius Rakauskas, 9, fought in the Boys Pee Wee (Under 10 years old) Light Continuous where he fought really well to claim a bronze medal after loosing out to an opponent from Derby.

Nesta Baxter, 17, fought in the Ladies Over 16years Old -60kg Light Continuous Category where in the first round she came up against the current World Champion in Full Contact Kickboxing, Tennessee Randall. The fight was very close and a great performance from Nesta however it was Randall who progressed to the next round. Nesta then fought in the Junior Girls Grand Champion, Nesta won two fights before coming up against a Bristol Fighter, Ishana Moores who went on the take the overall Grand Champion Title.

Theo Magalhaes, who is just 5 years of age, competed at the Bristol Open which was his first large, international competition. Theo fought in the Boys Pee Wees (Under 10 years old) -25kg Light Continuous where he fought well but lost to a good fighter from Cornwall.
Mackenzie Warrant, 11, and Riley Brocklesby, 10, both fought in the Boys -37kg 10-16years old Continuous Kickboxing. Both boys fought great but lost out in the preliminary rounds to fighters who eventually took Podium places in a very large category.
Jake Peppercorn, 16, fought in the Boys 10-16yrs +57kg Light Continuous Category where he came up against some top class fighters. Jake won two fights but unfortunately had to pull out the category due to an injury.
Chelsea Leggatt fought in the Ladies Over 16yrs +65kg Light Continuous where she fought against an Irish National Fighter Jordan Doran. The fight was very close but Kelly took the lead in the final few seconds and won by a split decision.
Sunday was the second day of the Bristol Open International Kickboxing Event and held host to Point Fighting, a second discipline of the sport.
Nesta Baxter, 17, won Evolution Martial Arts’ Gold of the event on this Sunday in the Junior Girls (16-18yrs) -60kg Point Fighting. Nesta fought against a variety of fighters to secure herself a place in the final where she fought against Lea Farrell from Ireland. The fight finished on a score of 7-5 to Nesta after taking an early lead. This was Nesta’s first time to take the Bristol Open Title in Point Fighting.

Theo Magalhaes, Kaius Rakauskas, Riley Brocklesby, Mackenzie Warrant, Paige Steadman, Jake Peppercorn and Chelsea Leggatt all fought really well against a variety of fighters from Italy, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, representing Evolution Martial Arts with pride at such a high level event and coming away as runner ups.
